Rodanco is awarded innovation funding

Rodanco B.V., a small but fast-growing SME, has obtained a so-called “MIT” subsidy. MIT stands for “SME innovation stimulation Region and Top Sectors” and is designed to support innovation in the Dutch regions and top sectors. Rodanco B.V. received the award for innovation financing from the province of North-Holland. In this way, the province of Noord-Holland stimulates innovations in SMEs that should lead to new business. With its head office in Alkmaar and R&D facilities in Amsterdam, Rodanco B.V. use the funding for a feasibility study of a new project. V.R. Lachman (Managing Director) of Rodanco B.V. said: “With this grant, we are going to boost our resources and R&D innovations to study the feasibility of a new product. The regional government supports our ideas that we want to translate into innovations. At the end of the feasibility study, we want to continue to develop a new process that should lead to a new product. We are very happy and honoured that the province of North-Holland supports our innovation.”

Rodanco’s Antioxidant AO1202 is added to AGQM’s no-harm list

EU Biofuel Regulation By 2020, the EU aims to have 10% of the transport fuel of every EU country come from renewable sources such as biofuels. This is to help to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. For biofuels to reduce greenhouse gas emissions without adversely affecting the environment or social sustainability, they must be produced in a sustainable way and must comply to strict specification. For unblended FAME (fatty acid methyl esters) diesel fuel as well as for certain higher level Biodiesel blends, the European diesel fuel specification must meet EN 14214 and must exhibit a minimum oxidation stability. To meet EU regulation for Biodiesel and diesel fuel blends by 2020, Rodanco has developed AntiOxidant AO1202, which fully complies with EN 14214 and passed the No-Harm test of oxidation stabilizers executed by AGQM, Germany’s Biodiesel quality management association. Therefore, more and more stabilizers are utilized for Biodiesel as blend component in order to ensure sufficient oxidation stability of the final fuel. No-Harm Test Recently AGQM has completed its 13th round of no-harm tests on oxidation stabilizers for Biodiesel used in diesel fuel or heating oil. The No Harm test of oxidation stabilizers contains a test procedure to determine the relative efficiency against Butylhydroxytoluene (BHT) using different scenarios. Rodanco’s Biodiesel additive AntiOxidant AO1202 successfully passed the no-harm test for Biodiesel as a blend component in diesel fuel. Rodanco’s listed Biodiesel additive AntiOxidant AO1202 as well as a description of the test procedures, can be found on AGQM’s website. AGQM Founded in 1999, AGQM has the objective to provide quality management for leading Biodiesel producers, traders and formulators. AGQM’s test procedures ensure a safe addition of antioxidant to Biodiesel or heating oil without negative interactions between the fuel and additives. A B10 blend is used when testing antioxidants for mixture in diesel fuel, and B20 is used for testing antioxidants for biodiesel blends in heating oil. Revision With the revision of EN 14214 (EN 14214:2010) in 2012, the requirements for the oxidation stability increased from 6 h as stipulated by the previous standard to 8 h according to the new standard EN 14214:2012. This alteration led to corresponding consequences regarding the required achievable oxidation stability for the No-harm Test. Since 2013 the requirement of the No-harm Test is that a minimum oxidation stability of 8 h +1 h must be achieved by additivation. The achievement of an extra hour is meant to provide the customer with a safe time reserve for any possible stability loss due to contact with oxygen during transport or prolonged storage times, for example. Rodanco’s AntiOxidant AO1202 fully complies with the new standard EN 14214:2012 oxidation stability of 8 h +1 h.

Rodanco celebrates 10 years of chemistry with precision

Company’s anniversary marks the beginning of the next stage in creating true added value is June, Rodanco B.V. will enter its eleventh year of existence. From its founding in 2004, their goal was to meet the increasing demand by the European market to provide niche products and services with regard to fuel oil additives and oilfield process chemicals. Since that time, their e orts to become a major player in the fuel oil additives and oilfield process chemicals market have borne fruit. Over the past ten years, Rodanco evolved steadily, as they more than doubled their product portfolio, expanded their cargo treatment services as well as their activities from the Benelux area to increasingly more European countries. And it doesn’t stop there: only last year, Rodanco acquired a new high-end laboratory at the prestigious Amsterdam Science Park to both facilitate their product development aspirations and secure the highest quality level for their products and services. is excellent example of Rodanco’s incessant commitment to quality is part of their strategy to achieving full ISO 9001 certification further on this year. “These past ten years we experienced a wide range of challenges, some set-backs,  but also many small and bigger victories and steady growth both in terms of quantity and quality,” says Romeo Lachman, founder and CEO. “And though we are proud of what we achieved so far, we rather look to the future, as we feel like we have only just begun.” Creating true added value for all stakeholders is in essence Rodanco’s main priority. Confirmed quality: Rodanco acquiries ISO 9001: 2008 certificate It is with great pleasure and pride that we announce that Rodanco recently acquired the ISO 9001:2008 certification. As we see it, this achievement clearly confirms the high quality standards of Rodanco: a direct result of the continuous improvement process that is at the core of our company. To simply regard this certification as a one-off quality label or translation of the standards both the market and international legislation have set with regard to the output of our organization, would not do its justice. The ISO 9001:2008 standards are an integral part of everything we do and challenge us to keep up our self-critical assesment of our activities and our quality driven approach now and in the future.
